South Florida needs lots of money and state and federal cooperation to face rising seas | Opinion

Local governments, with coordination at the regional level, have been largely responsible for efforts to combat rising seas. To succeed, these efforts must become a broader effort shared by local academic institutions and local, state, and federal governments. Creating drainage canals, drinking water supplies, flood protection systems, and other critical infrastructure that will be able to best serve South Florida will require collaborative decision making that focuses on near- and long-term questions of how, where, and when to invest.
