The Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact exemplifies the impact regional actors can make despite minimal state or federal support. The cornerstone of the compact—the Regional Climate Action Plan—has been successfully implemented across South Florida as municipalities share best practices, exchange lessons learned, and make changes to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The mitigation and adaptation efforts supported by the compact help support Florida’s economy and make the compact and the action plan national models for how regional actors can address climate change.
