Currently, more than 90 U.S. coastal communities are battling chronic flooding, and this number is expected to almost double to more than 170 communities in the next 20 years. A new report from the Union of Concerned Scientists mapped the rate of sea level rise for hundreds of coastal communities. An online tool allows users to zoom in on various regions, all the way down to street level. The report also projects a timeline for sea level rise inundations in coastal communities, and explores the political and economic responses to these changes.
