Solar energy would guarantee a brighter future for the Sunshine State

In mid-July, professionals working in emergency management, urban planning, sustainability, and resilience across Southeast Florida gathered at a Compact workshop to focus on how resilience efforts could be integrated into and inform emergency management efforts. Solar and battery installations carry a resilience benefit by providing access to electricity even during power outages, when traditional utility customers are left in the dark. The Public Service Commission will be making recommendations to state utilities in the near future to help improve hurricane preparedness and power restoration procedure following a storm.
