SUMMARY:RCAP Implementation Workshop: Electric Vehicles
DESCRIPTION:Transportation accounts for nearly 50 percent of greenhouse gas emissions within the Southeast Florida Region. Given the current car dependency within the region\, rapid electrification of transportation combined with the decarbonization of the electricity sector represents a critical pathway to achieve emission reductions. While consumer demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is rising\, there are numerous barriers to widespread electrification. Meeting the opportunity that EVs promise requires partnership and coordination among government\, utilities\, charging companies\, automakers\, and other private sector stakeholders to remove barriers\, invest in infrastructure\, provide incentives\, and adopt EV-friendly codes and policies to pave the way for greater EV adoption.  \nObjectives for this Workshop include: \n\nEngaging state and regional agencies and promoting collaboration for regional EV planning\nLearning about regional infrastructure investment priorities and identifying opportunities for alignment  \nBuilding capacity of municipalities to install EV infrastructure and transition fleets \n\n  \nThis workshop will advance the following recommendations of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Compact Regional Climate Action Plan’s (RCAP 2.0):  \nEF-12: Promote community use of electric vehicles (EV). \nEF-11: Establish a fuel-efficient municipal vehicle fleet.  \nEF-10: Enable a fuel-efficient public vehicle fleet.  \nEF-2: Advance energy efficiency and conservation through technological solutions\, behavioral strategies\, and policies in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. \nST-23: Use evidence-based planning and decision-making for transportation system investments and management.
